Blues number eight Nick Williams has joined the mass trek north by Southern Hemisphere players and will join Irish region Munster in November, it was announced on Thursday.
European Champions Munster announced that Williams will join their squad later in the year subject to the usual medical clearance and his obtaining a work permit.
24-year-old Williams played in 12 of the Blues' 13 Super 14 games this season scoring tries against the Lions at Ellis Park and the Crusaders in Christchurch.
The Samoan-born number eight had become a well-established member of the Blues Super 14 squad, and the rampaging loose forward had been earmarked as a star of the future.
At just 23 Williams was chosen to captain Air New Zealand Cup side North Harbour last year but will not take part in this year's competition due to a shoulder injury.
Apart from a place in the Junior All Blacks in 2006 he has been consistently overlooked at national level prompting his move the greener (backed?) pastures on the Emerald Isle.
