Connacht tie up Ta`auso

Monday 14th July 2008

Connacht have strengthened their squad with the signing of Highlanders centre Niva Ta'auso for the forthcoming season.

The 28-year-old Samoan ball-carrier will however, not be arriving in Galway until October due to completing the current season in New Zealand with Counties Manukau.

Yet despite his late touch-down in Ireland, Connacht Manager Tim Allnutt sees former Junior All Black Ta'auso as a major addition to his charges as the new campaign approaches.

"Niva is a very powerful strong-running centre," he said.

"He's a line breaker and a good distributor of the ball and we feel he'll improve our play in a crucial area."
