Pack your bags: Emerick is heading to France for next season

The Dragons have confirmed that USA Eagles centre Paul Emerick has left the region to take up a contract with French club Beziers.

The 28-year-old signed with the Dragons on a two-year deal back in 2006, having put his new side out of the Heineken Cup the week before with old club Calvisano.

Having signed a contract extension last season Emerick should have been at Rodney Parade until at least 2009. However with the Dragons chasing Cardiff Blues centre Marc Stcherbina, Emerick has opted to look for his rugby elsewhere.

Stcherbina, 31, has made 52 appearances in three years at the Arms Park, but a serious shoulder problem limited his impact last season.

Stcherbina began his career with New South Wales Waratahs before moving to England in 2004, where he enjoyed a successful spell with Northampton Saints.

Shaun Edwards hands out the orders as Wales warm-up at the Millennium Stadium. A sickening clash of heads in the opening minute sees both Stirling Mortlock and Jamie Roberts hurt. Mortlock is taken from the field immediately, whilst Roberts plays on for 15 minutes with a fractured skull.
