Scotland captain Mike Blair arrived home from the tour of Argentina on Wednesday lunchtime and went straight for an operation.
The 27-year-old Edinburgh scrum-half required surgery on a minor rib problem.
The rib complaint proved an irritation but did not affect his performance on the drawn two-Test tour against the Pumas.
Writing in his blog, on www.scottishrugby.org, Blair said the problem was "nothing drastic, just a bit uncomfortable when I sleep on it".
Describing the prospect of the operation, he added: "Apparently it will feel like I've been punched in the guts afterwards and I'll be taking it easy for a couple of weeks."
