Strong signing: Johnstone boosts Biarritz scrum

Biarritz have strengthened their squad with the signing of three new forwards just two weeks into the Top 14 season.

Joining the Basque club are Crusaders prop Campbell Johnstone, Agen flank Pierre Som and Valke scrummager Nicolaas Pretorius.

Johnstone, who has won three Super 14 medals for the Canterbury franchise, signs a two-year contract and will replace soon-to-become Toulouse player Benoit Lecouls.

Meanwhile, South African-based Pretorius is due to link up with his new side at the conclusion on this season's Currie Cup.
