Toulon's New Zealand-born loose forward Sonny Bill Williams will be out for three weeks after picking up an injury at the weekend, the club said on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, who controversially joined the French Top 14 team from an Australian Rugby League side last month, was hurt during Saturday's draw with Brive.
Williams sparked a media storm when he left Australia mid-season to switch codes and play in Europe, despite being only one year into a five-year contract with the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs dropped their legal battle to prevent the loss of their player, accepting a reported AUS$750,000 (US$653,400) cash settlement.
Meanwhile, Toulon's South African hooker Tiaan Liebenberg had to have a hand operation after being injured in the same match, and faces a lay-off of up to two months.
