Auckland openside Daniel Braid has been called up to the All Black squad ahead of the Tri-Nations clash against Australia in Sydney next weekend.

Braid, recently recovered from injury, replaces Chris Masoe as injury cover for Richie McCaw, who has begun light training again after an ankle injury.

Waikato's Kevin O'Neill is also joining the squad as cover for the injured Ali Williams, and Brad Thorn will also be competing for a spot in the starting XV after serving his one-week suspension.

Williams is expected to be available for selection in this weekend's Test against Australia in Sydney, despite managing an ankle sprain, and O'Neill remains with the All Blacks as a precaution.

The All Blacks train in Wellington this week and fly to Sydney on Thursday.
