New hope: Peel is expecting to be fit for the November internationals

Wales have been handed a fitness boost with the news that scrum-half Dwayne Peel could be fit for their November Tests.

Peel was ruled out of Wales' upcoming two-Test tour to South Africa due to a shoulder injury and after further examinations it was feared he would miss the remainder of the year.

However Kingsley Jones, Peel's boss at his new club Sale, believes the 61-times capped scrum-half will be back in time for Wales' four November internationals.

"He is going to have keyhole surgery and he will be running and doing bits after three weeks," Jones told Scrum V.

"This will bring him through a lot quicker.

"Unfortunately, we have had three or four guys with the same injury in the last two years and they've come back in 10 to 12 weeks."

Warren Gatland has already lost Peel and fellow scrum-half Mike Phillips for the tour to South Africa, resulting in a surprise call-up for London Irish's Warren Furry.
